 Shows - Salute 2006 1/3This Salute edition was the first that took place in the "Excel" Venue in the east of London.
More recent, easier to get in and with better accomodation than Olympia had, Excel allowed Salute to grow and offer an even better show than last year. This article is divided into 3 parts. Second and third will be published as soon I'll have finished them so please be patient and lenient... Second part wil deal with Urban Mammoth and related topics. Third will be about Salute contests. Salute is now getting old (35 years old is great age for a Convention!) but continues to grow : 30% more this year. 11500m² fully dedicated to miniatures games!!! [The following sentence is adressed to french reader lost in the english one] Just think about the place dedicated to miniatures in french Shows... No comparaison is possible, Salute is just Heaven on Earth for wargamers! The "secret" recipee is : demonstrations, particpative games, editors, manufacturers ans shops. Here some choosen pics from the show :  Sword Beach - Queen Red Sector (one of the games that received lots of prices during the Games Competition)  Huge bring&buy by SELWG  Allways astonishing : CloudShips of Mars, flying ships at war in the Space 1889 steampunk universe. Basically 25mm scale ships mounted on tripods flying over a 100m² "game table"  Arthur & Mordred, collector miniatures (5000 ex.) only available during Salute06 (sculpted by M. Copplestone)  Some Stormtrooper, roman legionnaries ans medieval troopers could be seen in the alleys.  Hasslefree's booth overcrowded and where you could some personnalities...  Mongoose : "A call to arms" space fight in the Babylon5 universe  Pardulon, brand new manufacturer of 25/28mm medieval scenery. Each stair is also sculpted inside and the whole is highly modular.
